21 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

DENZEL CURRY – “WOO” (ft. PLAYTHATBOIZAY & CHIEF POUND)

Denzel Curry keeps dropping singles as we await more details on his upcoming album 13LOOD 1N + 13LOOD OUT RELOADED, and most of them sound like trips back to his grimy mixtape days. “Woo” is no exception.

SATURDAYS AT YOUR PLACE – “POUROVER”

Emo bands Saturdays At Your Place and Summerbruise are releasing the That’s What Friends Are For split EP on November 17 via No Sleep, and it’ll include SAYP’s new propulsive, poppy jam “Pourover.”

MEGAN THEE STALLION – “OUT ALPHA THE ALPHA”

Megan Thee Stallion has shared a new song from the soundtrack to A24’s Dicks: The Musical, which she also stars in, and it’s a patriarchy-smashing rap anthem with a backdrop that definitely uses some traditional musical-style motifs.

THE LINDA LINDAS – “LITTLE BIT O’SOUL” (THE MUSIC EXPLOSION COVER)

The Linda Lindas covered The Music Explosion’s 1967 track “Little Bit O’Soul” for new Prime Video horror/comedy film Totally Killer, which is out today.

LEATHERMAN (CLOWNS) – “TELEPHONE”

Melbourne punks Leatherman (who share members with Clowns) have shared their new glammy, rock & roll-infused single “Telephone.”

LAMB OF GOD – “EVIDENCE”

Lamb of God are celebrating the one year anniversary of their most recent album, Omens, with a new single, “Evidence.” “One of the more baffling aspects of modern day life is the conscious rejection of empirical facts in favor of Internet echo chamber emotional security blanket,” Randy Blythe says. “Truth is not subjective, no matter how uncomfortable that makes some people. Art is though, so enjoy the song, however you may choose to interpret it.”

GABBY’S WORLD – “FACE”

The latest single from GABBY SWORD, the new album from Gabby’s World that she’s releasing one song a month all year, is “Face,” which Gabby Smith says “emerged from a raw and unfiltered outpouring of feelings. It’s a journey through melancholy and introspection, a stream of consciousness that I hadn’t anticipated. At the time, I was having trouble accessing my feelings, but as I sat at the piano, the lyrics and melody flowed out of me as a stream of consciousness, revealing layers of feelings I didn’t know I was experiencing.”

FIVIO FOREIGN – “WHY WOULD I?”

NYC drill-pop star Fivio Foreign returns with a menacing new anthem, “Why Would I?”

CHRIS WALLA – 2002 EP

“Imposter syndrome is a rat gnawing at your wires and when they short circuit your judgment, you do things like, for example, sit on pretty respectable and finished work for, say, twenty or so years,” Chris Walla says of the three-song EP he released for Bandcamp Day. “Anyway here’s an ep I made between The Photo Album and Transatlanticism. I am finally proud of it and I hope you enjoy it.” He recorded it at San Francisco’s Tiny Telephone and Seattle’s Hall of Justice, and produced, recorded, mixed and played everything except drums, which Nathan Good contributed. “Made on tape without computers,” Chris adds. “Go outside, save yourself.”

GOING OFF – “PAY THE PRICE” & “BED OF CONCRETE”

UK hardcore band Going Off drop off two gnarly ragers.

ADVANCE BASE – “HOW YOU GOT YOUR PICTURE ON THE WALL” & “RENE GOODNIGHT”

Owen Ashworth is back with two new Advance Base songs for Bandcamp Day. “The ideas behind both of these songs kicked around for a long time before I finally felt like I understood them, & then suddenly they were both finished, one after the other,” he says. “In my mind, the two songs are brother & sister. I recorded them live in my basement after trying them out at a handful of Advance Base shows. Thanks to everyone who listened to them live & asked when they were coming out. These are for you.”

GARRETT T. CAPPS & NASA COUNTRY – “LET’S RIDE (KRAUT STOMP)”

Krautrock-infused country band Garrett T. Capps and NASA Country have shared a new 13-minute jam with this context: “We had some time on the last day to do whatever we wanted. So we just hit record and jammed all day. It was nice. this next collection of jams are some of those recordings. What’s cool about these is that a few of them turned in to songs that we currently play live and will be on our next record. meta shit my foos. I’ll be rolling these out for the next 6 weeks.”

THE DWARVES – “WE WILL DARE”

Say The Dwarves of their new single and video: “The Dwarves have been getting cancelled since the 1980’s, so we wrote a 90’s pop punk song about it and made a video starring a female singer born in the 2000’s and a snowboarder from Jackass who’s on strike in 2023. What could possibly go wrong…”

VANTAGE POINT – “A REMINDER”

Massachusetts straightedge band Vantage Point (members of C4, Final Gasp, and Chaos Cross) will release their debut full-length, Against Myself, on November 10 via Triple B. The new single is “A Reminder,” and it’s a classic-style straightedge ripper that sounds as good today as it would have in the late ’80s or early ’90s.

UFOMAMMUT – “CROOKHEAD”

Italian psychedelic sludge metallers Ufomammut will release the Crookhead EP on Halloween, and the nine-minute, wall-of-sound title track is here.

BLOCKHEAD – “THE CELLA DWELLAS KNEW” (ft. QUELLE CHRIS)

Hip hop producer and frequent Aesop Rock collaborator Blockhead will release a new album, The Aux, on November 17 via billy woods’ Backwoodz Studioz label. Aesop Rock and billy woods are both on it, as are Danny Brown, Open Mike Eagle, ELUCID, Navy Blue, AKAI SOLO, Defcee, ShrapKnel, RXK Nephew, Fatboi Sharif, Despot, and more. First single “The Cella Dwellas Knew” is a head-trip collab with Quelle Chris.

JANELLE MONÁE – “CHAMPAGNE SHIT” (REMIX ft. LATTO & QUAVO)

Janelle Monáe has added an extra dose of Atlanta to The Age of Pleasure highlight “Champagne Shit,” bringing in Latto and Quavo of Migos for a new remix.

LOL TOLHURST X BUDGIE X JACKNIFE LEE – LOS ANGELES FT JAMES MURPHY (THE DARE REMIX)

Former Cure member Lol Tolhurst, former Siouxsie & The Banshees drummer Budgie, and producer Jacknife Lee have given their debut single, featuring LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, over to The Dare to remix. “Joan Didion said ‘the city burning is Los Angeles’ deepest image of itself,’ says The Dare. “It’s a total honor for Budgie, Jacknife, Lol and James to let me set their work on fire.” As there’s a lot of LCD in The Dare, this feels like a full-cirlce moment.

HEATMISER – DIRT (LIVE AT EDGEFIELD 1992)

The Music of Heatmiser, a new compilation of rare and unreleased songs from Elliott Smith’s band Heatmiser, is out today and along with it comes with unearthed, never-before-seeen live footage of the band playing “Dirt” in 1992 at a wedding reception for their friends Jo and Jennifer.

TOM ROGERSON – “OATH (HINOKI OMORI REMIX)”

“Tom is a dear friend and I’ve hugely admired his musical magic over the years, so it was an absolute honour to be asked to remix his beautiful track ‘Oath,’” says Hinoki Omori. “Out of all of the stunning tracks on the album, ‘Oath’ immediately stood out and struck an emotional chord – the melody, lyrics and meditative piano motifs resonated deeply with me. It inspired me to take Tom’s soaring vocals and create a granular synth using his voice, weaving in layers of synthesizer soundscapes around it like a tapestry. Underneath is a field recording from the Botanical Garden of Rome which I visited shortly before I started working on the remix.” Tom Rogerson’s Retreat To Bliss is out now via Western Vinyl.

TREVOR HORN & SEAL – “STEPPIN’ OUT” (JOE JACKSON COVER)

Superproducer Trevor Horn called on his old friend Seal to cover Joe Jackson’s 1982 hit “Steppin’ Out” for his new album Echoes. “The Joe Jackson original is like stepping out into the fast-moving neon-lit edginess of New York after you’ve got high,” says Trevor. “With Seal I thought it should be like stepping out into California where it’s lush, comfortable and much less speedy. I was thinking of ‘The Girl from Ipanema.’ I love that record. I was aiming for carefree contemporary easy listening with a little something else, basically the ineffable cool of Seal.
