For over two months now, there have been ongoing reports about the Los Angeles Clippers expressing interest in acquiring James Harden. Harden has been actively seeking a trade ever since his public dispute with long-time colleague and General Manager of the Philadelphia Sixers, Daryl Morey.
According to Harden, Morey lied to him this summer and his trust in him is not salvageable. Harden has participated in practice this season but has not played a preseason game.
When USA Today’s Michael Scotto asked 76ers’ Tobias Harris if they have told James Harden that they want him to stay or if they have even gotten involved in the situation, he responded, “Nah. I think nobody has any ill will or hard feelings on that situation. We’re just taking it day by day and seeing where it goes,” Harris said.
As it stands, the Clippers appear to be the sole team actively in pursuit of James Harden. But every offer has been declined quickly. Reports show that they want more incentives to trade the LA-born star. However, the Clippers are the only team willing to engage and trade for him.
It’s being reported they’re in the process of acquiring more draft picks in pursuit of Harden. Eventually, the Sixers may have to bend and trade James Harden if the value makes sense, but until then, they will not break.
