Diddy’s 2022 BET Lifetime Achievement Award acceptance speech came into focus. Cassie had mentioned the speech in her lawsuit, saying Diddy thanked her for holding him down in “dark times” when he was the one holding her down — in a negative way.
Meanwhile, her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, said that Diddy had previously offered Cassie “eight figures to silence her and prevent the filing of” her lawsuit. However, she had “rejected his efforts.”
It’s unclear how much the former pair settled the lawsuit for.
Cassie And Diddy Release Statements After Settlement
Amid news of settling the lawsuit, Cassie and Diddy released statements via the NY Times.
The 35-page filing accused Diddy of sexually assaulting Cassandra Ventura on several occasions after allegedly coercing her into a relationship. Cassie stated that during their ten-year-plus relationship, Diddy physically abused her with severe beatings witnessed by staff. She also accused him of forcing her to perform sexual acts with male sex workers across state lines while he allegedly watched, made demands, recorded, and self-pleasured.
According to the NY Times, Cassie and Diddy announced the settlement on the evening of Friday (Nov. 17). This comes after the “Official Singer” singer filed on Thursday afternoon in New York under the city’s temporary ‘Adult Survivors Act,’ which is set to expire on Nov. 23.
“I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control,” Cassie told the NY Times in a statement. “I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support.”
