Jay Rock Returns with “Money Trees Deuce”

Another holdover while we wait for Rock’s album

Of the four members of Black Hippy, Jay Rock is experiencing the longest layover in between albums, as his last effort, Follow Me Home, was released in July of 2011. Since then, he’s released singles, bodied freestyles, and stolen the show on Kendrick Lamar‘s platinum-selling debut album, but we’ve no new album from the Watts, California rep.

Today, we receive another tease, by way of a Flippa and J-Proof instrumental, “Money Trees Deuce,” billed as the sequel to the very song on Kendrick’s debut, “Money Trees,” that Rock destroyed in 2012. Rock adopts smoother, more subtle flow than we’re used to hearing from him, but still delivers the gritty, no-nonsense lyrics he’s used to anchor his recent releases, “Parental Advisory” and “Pay For It.”
